Joymala Hajra (she/her) — Founder & Principal Consultant
Joymala Hajra is a program and communications leader who helps organizations turn complex research and frontline insights into applied strategies and measurable impact. She specializes in building programs that advance sustainability, labor rights, and gender equity—bridging global stakeholders with grassroots knowledge to design effective interventions and scale community-centered solutions.
Through Field & Forum Consulting, Joymala partners with a team of consultants across South Asia and the U.S. to deliver program strategy, evaluation, and strategic communications that maximize organizational and social outcomes. Her work includes co-authoring and directing the Toxic Textiles report on global leather supply chains for Green America; co-leading upcycling and artisan sustainability programs with South Asia-based teams; securing national media coverage for Custom Collaborative; and managing strategy and communications for major social justice initiatives at Columbia University.
Her career began in fashion, where she spent over 20 years designing for global brands while researching sustainable practices with artisans and communities. This foundation grounds her approach to program and communications leadership, blending design thinking, visual storytelling, and cultural fluency.
Joymala holds a BFA in Fashion Design and a Certificate in Design for Social Impact from the Fashion Institute of Technology, and an MA in South Asian Studies from Columbia University. She is recognized as a Columbia FLAS and CSSD Fellow, and an Archival Creators Fellow with SAADA.
